The Mill centre
is home to a family of 'hansie' angora goats, who love being
visited by children, or anyone willing to give them a scratch
on the head, and a few pellets!
A 'hansie' is a goat that has been rejected by its mother
at birth, and is bottle-fed by hand.
These 'hansies' are usually the friendliest in the flock
which is why they were chosen to live at the Mill.
The hansie family is headed by Jordy and his wife, Bubbles
(aptly named because of the bubbles she produced while drinking
out of a bottle as a kid).
The goats are shorn twice a year using either electric or
hand shearers.
